A EDP informou que Stilwell, que lidera a empresa desde 2021, comunicou ao conselho de administração que não buscaria um terceiro mandato quando seu atual período de três anos expirar na assembleia geral anual de acionistas da empresa, em abril de 2027.

A empresa informou que ele permanecerá no cargo até o fim de seu mandato e continuará supervisionando o plano de negócios da EDP, trabalhando em conjunto com o conselho para garantir uma transição ordenada.

Stilwell disse à Reuters que, após 25 anos na EDP, incluindo 15 na diretoria e seis como CEO, sentiu que “chegou o momento certo de se afastar, após muita reflexão”.

Ele afirmou que a sucessão deve ser “o mais tranquila possível”, ressaltando que a EDP está em uma posição sólida e que a transição será “mais uma questão de continuidade” do que de mudança estratégica.

“A empresa está em ótima forma, com resultados sólidos, um balanço patrimonial robusto, uma equipe estável e perspectivas promissoras para o futuro. Até mesmo o preço das ações se recuperou bem. Estamos indo na direção certa”, afirmou.

A EDP transformou-se em um dos principais grupos de energia limpa da Europa, gerando cerca de 90% de sua eletricidade a partir de fontes renováveis e detendo a EDP Renewables, a quarta maior produtora mundial de energia eólica.

O conselho acompanhará a sucessão, com um processo de seleção formal apoiado por uma empresa internacional independente especializada em recrutamento de executivos e aberto a candidatos internos e externos antes da assembleia de acionistas de 2027.

As ações da EDP subiram mais de 20% neste ano e estão sendo negociadas perto da máxima das últimas 52 semanas.
