Segundo Costa, os imóveis seriam destinados à sua moradia caso se concretizasse o convite para assumir a presidência de uma nova holding financeira do grupo Master. Costa afirmou que recebeu uma proposta de Vorcaro para comandar a nova empresa. Ele disse que, antes de responder a Vorcaro, consultou o então governador do Distrito Federal, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), porque tinha o compromisso de permanecer no banco até o fim de sua gestão.

Segundo o ex-presidente, caso aceitasse a proposta, deixaria o BRB e se desvincularia dos cargos públicos. Porém, também diz que seria conselheiro do BRB.

Ao explicar a negociação dos apartamentos, Costa afirmou que não faria sentido arcar com os custos de duas moradias, já que teria atividades profissionais nas duas cidades. “Na minha visão, não fazia sentido eu ter que comprar duas casas e tal, ter dois custos e tal. Então, no contrato de trabalho, que é praxe no mercado, eu falei: ‘Olha, mas tem uma condição, que é o banco fornecer a minha moradia nas duas cidades, já que eu estou a serviço, eu estarei a serviço’”, afirmou à PF.

O ex-presidente disse que chegou a visitar cerca de 15 apartamentos em São Paulo. De acordo com Costa, o principal critério para a escolha era a proximidade com a sede do Master. Ele afirmou ainda que Vorcaro se ofereceu para comprar os imóveis que despertaram seu interesse e pediu uma lista.

“E aí a gente visita e manda essa lista de quatro. Quando manda essa lista de quatro para ele, diz assim: ‘São só esses quatro que você gostou?’ Eu falo: ‘Só’”, relatou Costa. “Eu mando a lista, ele [Vorcaro] vai lá e fala: ‘Eu vou comprar todos. Por que você não fica?’ ‘Eu tenho a menor condição de comprar nada’. Aí ele diz: ‘Ó, você vai ser presidente aqui, muitos outros negócios o banco vai fazer, você vai ter condição’.”

Segundo ele, Vorcaro ofereceu uma opção de compra futura dos apartamentos. O ex-presidente afirmou que pediu que o valor fosse estabelecido a preço de mercado. “Qual foi o meu pedido? Opção a preço de mercado”, declarou. Em seguida, acrescentou: “Nunca eu exerceria, e não faz sentido econômico-financeiro”.

Costa negou, porém, que tenha recebido os imóveis. “Eles nunca foram e nunca seriam meus. E acho que hoje, quando a gente olha as várias IPJs [Informação de Polícia Judiciária] que foram feitas, está muito claro porque esses apartamentos nunca foram nem comprados. Então, como eu poderia receber algo que não foi comprado?”, afirmou à PF.

Questionado sobre os seis imóveis, o ex-presidente do BRB disse que cinco negociações não foram concluídas e que o sexto apartamento foi vendido a um terceiro. “Não basta não ter tido a aquisição concluída, a aquisição formal, mas não teve movimentação financeira e que permitisse isso acontecer”, relatou.
