O pleito acontece em fevereiro do próximo ano.

O movimento, anunciado em nota pelos presidentes do União, Antonio Rueda, e do PP, senador Ciro Nogueira (PI), acontece dias após a vitória de Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) nas urnas. Neste segundo turno, a federação havia apoiado a candidatura do senador Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) à Presidência.

"A Federação União Progressista, formada pelo União Brasil e pelo Progressistas (PP), declara seu apoio à recondução do senador Davi Alcolumbre à Presidência do Senado Federal e do Congresso Nacional", afirmou a federação na declaração.

O anúncio defende que a recondução do amapaense ao cargo "contribui para a estabilidade institucional" e as relações entre os Poderes brasileiros.

"A experiência de Davi Alcolumbre na condução do Senado Federal e do Congresso Nacional, especialmente em momentos de grandes desafios políticos, reafirma sua capacidade de promover o diálogo, construir consensos e preservar a independência do Parlamento e a harmonia entre os Poderes. O União Brasil e o Progressistas têm uma trajetória de parceria, confiança e compromisso político ao lado de Davi Alcolumbre, construída ao longo dos anos. Reafirmamos nosso apoio à sua liderança e nosso compromisso com um Congresso Nacional forte, independente e capaz de transformar o diálogo em resultados concretos para os brasileiros", completou.

Esse apoio representa um fortalecimento de Alcolumbre após a vitória de Lula, candidatura apoiada pelo presidente do Senado por meio do avanço de pautas prioritárias ao Planalto no Congresso. Antes de domingo, ele estava enfraquecido após a derrota de seus aliados no Amapá e a eleição de um grande número de políticos da extrema-direita para o Senado.

A oposição, especialmente o PL, vêm tentando construir uma candidatura à chefia do Legislativo para concorrer contra o atual ocupante do posto, após o amapaense negar a tramitação de pautas importantes para esses grupos políticos, como o impeachment de ministros do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF).

A líder do PP no Senado, Tereza Cristina (MS), era uma das cotadas para disputar a presidência do Senado no próximo ano. Aliados dela, contudo, destacavam que ela não tem o desejo de concorrer ao cargo contra Alcolumbre ou algum outro representante da oposição, uma vez que isso dividiria os votos que ela poderia receber. A essas pessoas próximas, ela não descarta deixar para disputar esse pleito em 2029.

As bancadas de outros partidos, como o MDB e o PSD, já declararam apoio à reeleição de Alcolumbre em 2027. O PT, partido de Lula, deve fazer o mesmo, porque esse apoio faria parte ao endosso do amapaense aos interesses do governo no Senado.
